Tofu Nuggets with Sea Salt

These simple tofu nuggets are easy to prepare and make for a delicious meal or snack. I served these while on vacation to a big group of family members and the kids especially loved them. They’re coated with a simple flour mixture that gives them a crispy battered outside while the tofu remains soft and piping hot on the inside. Freshly ground black pepper and coarse sea salt push them over the edge into heavenly tofu goodness.

Assemble the following ingredients:

  • 1 cup unbleached, all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • canola or vegetable oil for pan frying
  • 1 carton firm tofu, drained, patted dry and cubed
  • black pepper and sea salt for sprinkling

Combine the flour, garlic powder and sea salt in a shallow pan and combine well. Place the cubed tofu into the flour mixture and toss to coat evenly. In a large pan, heat the oil and then place the tofu onto the pan in a single layer. Pan fry until crispy and brown, them flip to brown the other side.

Place onto a serving dish and sprinkle with black pepper and sea salt to taste. Serve with a dipping sauce if you’d like. I served ours with a sweet Thai chili sauce.
